Plaza de la Amistad

If you live in Arivaca, then you've most likely seen stuff happening at the new park. If you don't know (hopefully you do), the name of the park is "Plaza de la Amistad" (Friendship Plaza or Plaza of Friends) Our vision is to create a place of connection to each other, nature, history and visitors of our beautiful Village.

Because of generous donations from a grant as well as a wonderful woman from Quail Creek in Green Valley, we were able to preserve the historic adobe walls. They have been stucco'd on the top and sprayed with a special sealer to keep out the moisture. Hopefully this will keep the walls standing for many years more to come.

Thanks to RD Ayers, we are moving a big berm that stretched through the middle of the park, and will be finishing that project up in April with a big community clean up day to pick up rocks and debris that had been imbedded into the berm. (more info on that project will be coming soon)

The other day I was wandering through the park and imaging what it would look like in one year, five years, ten years. How many visitors had stopped by and learned about the history of our beautiful village? How many residences met each other there to visit? How many wonderful events took place? How many gatherings? Picnics? Laughs shared? How many bicyclists rested in the shade? How many butterflies, hummingbirds and bees stopped by to sip pollen from the gardens?

I love it when people come together with a vision for positive change. I thank all of those who have given of their time, talents and energy to get us this far. However there is still much to be done. We welcome YOUR SUPPORT as we continue to create a beautiful "space of connection" for our community.

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.
